Seems like Arc System Works are sick of being called out on their dodgy release schedule. The publisher announced today that five anticipated titles would be released on PC game marketplace Steam over the next six months, starting with Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- this coming Thursday.
The full lineup announced today:
- Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (December 2015)
- River City Super Sports Challenge: All Stars Special (December 2015)
- BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend (February 2016)
- Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code (by May 2016)
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late (by August 2016)
While the more cynical punter would point out that the versions of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue being offered are already outdated compared to the current arcade releases in Japan (GGXrd Revelator has been in arcades since late August, and BlazBlue Central Fiction since November), these updates are still yet to make their way to consoles, so the fact that ASW are releasing the current, active versions of a game feels like something of an improvement. Not to mention the decision to provide official support to the final version of cult classic airdasher Melty Blood, an early progeny of the anime and visual novel juggernaut Type-Moon.
GGXrd is expected to be priced at $30, with a 20 percent discount in the first week. In addition, all DLC will be free for the first month, so be sure to get in on it as soon as possible.
